TEACHING BLACK HISTORY TO WHITE PEOPLE

The class will begin on February 6 at 6PM and meet every Tuesday until March 12. This is a six-week class to explore the concepts in the book, “Teaching Black History to White People,’ by Leonard N. Moore, a professor at the University of Texas Austin.

The class will start with a trip to St. Augustine to experience the Civil Rights Movement in our oldest city. The St. Augustine Trip is Tuesday January 23. We will meet at 8:15AM, and return late that afternoon. There is a cost associated with the trip for lunch, and entrance to the museum.  Click the button below to sign up for the St. Augustine Trip.

Tuesday evenings 6-7:30PM, February 6-March 12 will be the class at First United. The class is for people who are willing to open themselves up to explore black history from a different perspective. The goal is to help First United become a beloved community where all are welcome. We would like for you to register for the class by filling out this form using the button below.

If you plan on attending the class you will need to get the book, “Teaching Black History To White People,” by Leonard N. Moore. You can find it on Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, Audible, or wherever you get your books.
